The Village SUmmit
The Village Summit is a 501c3 certified nonprofit “Micro-Community Center" within a previously foreclosed house, transformed into a valuable resource for the neighborhood. Their mission is focused on helping children in the community and building bonds between community members through volunteerism and personal service with the goal of improving the quality of life through education, social consciousness, and access to information and other valued resources.
The Village Summit just finished up their "Meet Up & Eat Up" Summer Lunch Program, where they served free lunches everyday & even made their our own special lunches every Friday. They also had 2 community gardens in the Fabulous Acres neighborhood that board members, volunteers & neighborhood members participated with.
Coming up, the Village Summit will be open Wednesday evenings from 4:30 - 6:30 P.M. for reading, tutoring & computer lab for all ages. They are also having a chili cook off fundraiser on November 2nd from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M.
The Village Summit is always looking for new volunteers and financial donations. All of their programming, fundraising, and basic functions are completely carried out by their very small Board of Directors. If you you would like to learn more about getting involved with The Village Summit, reach out to Amel Eiland at 517-648-7167 or check them out on Facebook. The organization is also currently collecting winter wear to distribute to families in need.
