Hope

Society today is not what it was back then, obviously. Working at the Boys and Girls Club in Battle Creek exposed me to the hardships that some kids and teenagers are facing. A lot of the kids there couldn't read or write. I spent a lot of time working with them to develop their reading and writing skills. It worked, because they would bring in their stickers of achievement to show me that they read a new book or two. New World Flood is an inspiration to me. I think it definitely means/stands for making changes in lives of people. "A single raindrop is the beginning of a flood." One act of kindness from me to you will start a wave of goodness. Not only would I continue to do good for others, but others will in turn do good for others, and so on and so forth. A lot of people think they have to be a higher up in the community to use their influence and do good. But, if people think hard enough, they can do good even if they're just a "low" person as well. It starts with a simple acknowledgment of a person, saying hi as they walk by, or opening a door for someone. It could go as far as helping someone move, or bringing a friend lunch during their shift at work. Or it could include picking up trash in the city to keep it clean. The possibilities of acts of kindness are infinite. I am just a college student trying to work and live life. Not a whole lot of time on the side, but am now playing semi-pro football again for the Kalamazoo Outlaws. I am going to get my team out into the community and get all 53 of us, plus the coaches, to make differences in kids lives. This is what New World Flood is. It's hope, it's inspiration, it's love, it's kindness, it's change. "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
